Kawesa The Musician
Kawesa is an experienced & seasoned singer, songwriter, producer, music entrepreneur and social activist with a profile of many successful programs:
- He has sung with the Grammy Award nominated African Children’s Choir touring the world from 1987-1989.
- Kawesa has since 1997 worked with numerous NGO & International entities on demanding music, business & social responsibility related projects like UNDP, UNFPA-Kenya, PSI -Uganda, UNAIDS, Uganda Aids Commission, Miss Uganda among others.
- Kawesa has produced three (3) solo albums & numerous singles since 1996. Matter-of-fact, the Spirit of Africa album lead truck (by the same title) was chosen by the International Cricket Council-London as their theme song for East Africa’s first mini-cricket World Cup Tournament.
- Kawesa contributed music to the Last King of Scotland movie and sound track working with Alex Heffes the music composer behind movies such as “Touching the Void” among others.
- In July 2007 Kawesa together with an up-coming artist Maurice Kirya staged a concert code-named “Music with Heart” whose purpose was to raise money for a number of open heart surgeries for children and young adults at IHK. In October, the operation too place at IHK.
- Kawesa was invited by a USAID funded organization Academy for Educational Development (AED) to contribute and produce music for a Girl Child education advocacy feature film called :”Africa’s daughters” by Natalie Halpern.
- Ahead of the Common Wealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) to be hosted in Uganda in mid November 2007, Kawesa together with Events Warehouse Ltd, Golden Drama Foundation and Gearhouse South Africa where the four entities that won the government bid to produce and stage a musical for the Opening ceremony that will be graced by the Queen of England.
- Additionally, Kawesa’s music off his latest album “Kanimba” was chosen as the official sound tracks for the Uganda Wildlife Authority special CHOGM Wildlife enhanced photo Cd to be given for a gift to all the 53 Heads of State along side over 5000 delegates.
